SHAMRAIN Sign With FIREBOX RECORDS
January 21, 2005SHAMRAIN (formerly TEARS),the Finnish quartet who feature in their ranks ENTWINE frontman Mika Tauriainen, have inked a deal with Firebox Records. The group are currently their sophomore effort, tentatively titled "Shades of Blue", for a spring release. Recordings will take place at "the studios of Akun Tehdas, a big AV-house near Tampere, Finland," according to a posting on the group's web site. "Part of the recordings will be made in band's own Blue Room studio, in Mikkeli. Sessions will most likely last until the end of January. The plan is to capture 12-13 songs, of which 9-10 will form the album."
SHAMRAIN, who recently announced the addition of guitarist Mikko Kolari to the group's ranks, released their debut album, "Empty World Excursion", in November 2003 through Watch Me Fall Records. The follow-up to the group's "Pieces" mini-CD was recorded at F-Field Studio in Lahti and features a musical style which is being described as "atmospheric rock."
